Pet Dental Health Awareness Month
Oral health issues are very common in adult dogs and cats. The good news is that we can support their oral health by implementing a holistic oral care routine to help keep their teeth clean and gums healthy – which includes tooth brushing, regular vet checkups, annual professional dental cleanings, and giving treats designed to help clean teeth.
Healthy Teeth Tips for Pets
Tip #1: Regularly Check & Brush
Make it a habit to inspect your pet's teeth for discoloration, swelling, or redness. Incorporate this routine into their care to catch dental issues early. Introduce tooth brushing using pet-friendly toothpaste and a soft brush for proactive oral hygiene care.
If brushing feels too daunting, we also carry brushless toothpastes and water additives designed to reduce the buildup of plaque.
Tip #2: Schedule a Vet Visit
It's important to control dental plaque and tartar accumulation to maintain healthy teeth and gums. So, be sure to take your pet to the vet for professional teeth cleaning and exams.
Tip #3: Give a Dental Treat
Another way to help control plaque and tartar buildup is with a daily dental treat. A daily dental treat is an effective (and delicious) way to help maintain your pet's oral health. It’s chewing and crunching actions that support good dental health. The more your pet chews, the more opportunity there is to mechanically scrub the plaque and tartar from their teeth.
